Today’s Ash Wednesday, and many are starting their 40 days of giving up something. I finally chose what I’m giving up:

1. Sugar (that is, the extra amount in many drinks. I am only going to be drinking water, milk, and XS.)

2. Negative Words (meaning I’m giving up the tendency to “curse” people while I’m driving, i.e. calling them idiots, as well as any other negative word that I might want to say out loud. I have realized saying words out loud is actually really powerful.)

3. My disdain for crunches (I’ll be doing crunches everyday for the next 40, and the plan is that that will create a habit for everyday after that!)

Actually that’s the plan on all of these – to create a positive habit. I read recently that habits become lifestyles which becomes your character which becomes your destiny. That’s powerful.

So, what are you giving up?

Some time this past week, I read in someone’s flickr photostream that “screen caps are the new poloroids.” I love taking screen captures, or screen shots, especially of stuff online, so I think I’ll implement them more on my blog.

Take this for instance. Today was beautiful.

It was like Spring! We ventured out to get our car that had been being worked on for the past several weeks. We now finally have both our cars. It’s incredible how mostly in America two people in a household need two seperate cars, but in England, where David’s family live, they share one car among three people. Sometimes, I fancy the idea of living in a big city where public transport is  more available. But mostly, I love my life here in Western NC.

Recently, I’ve subscribed to several podcasts on iTunes.

pods

I’m really very excited about each of them for different reasons. Of note, I found a podcast called PODRUNNER. Each week or so, this DJ puts out a mix for your workout. I’ve mentioned my love for getting in the zone during my workouts by listening to loud music before, so now I’m excited to get in the gym again and try this music out. It’ll be great not having to flip through several songs my iPod while I’m doing my cardio since the podcasts are about an hour long!

Everyday, I find a new reason why I love the internet and technology and living in this generation.

I had a great work out tonight. Got a ton of cardio in and learned some new ab workouts and variations on crunches. I HATE WORKING OUT MY ABS. But it’s my trouble spot and my “goal spot.” I met this girl last week who works out at THE RUSH as well, and we had an amazing chat tonight about health, exercise, men, beauty, goals – and reaching them – and I could feel the excitement and passion for becoming and staying healthy rise to a new level. It’s about choosing every day what you are going to do to take yourself further along on your road of progress.

I’m really amped tonight. I’m going to bed after this, though, so I can get up in the morning and do the “gym thang” before work. It’s going to be awesome.

I freakin’ love life.
