The recent photos I’ve “favorited” on flickr in a grid:

And I had to note this grid of one user’s very interesting set called “Reading and Reviewing” where she reads a book and photographs a quirky self-portrait of reading it. I am always amazed at how creative people are!

I find her adorable.

If you are on flickr, and I don’t know it yet, please let me know!

Currently, I’m in love with this Tiffany’s advertisement ::

I saw it in the February edition of VERANDA, an interior design magazine that I picked up one day. I actually tore the page out and posted it up on my bedroom wall. I did this because this photo reminds me of some of the things I really want in life: a ring from Tiffany’s and a baby. That’s not really in the order of what’s more important, though.

I put the photo on my wall for two reasons: the advertisement is really a lovely piece of art, and the other reason is that in order to achieve your goals, you often times have to have something in front of you reminding you of what you want. Mental imagery is a technique used by many people who are striving to meet certain goals. I’ve heard of it referenced to athletics. Athletes need to visualize what they’re supposed to do. But it goes for everyone. You need to see yourself as who you want to be before you are ever that person, before you can ever become that person.

So, now every time I walk out of my bedroom, on the wall next to my door, I see this photo, and I see myself as the little red-haired mother with a Tiffany’s ring on her finger.

This morning was fantastic. Earlier in the week, David asked me what night I wanted our weekly date night to be. This week is busy for us, but on Tuesday mornings, we both don’t have anywhere to be until 11am.

So, we got up this morning and had breakfast together (eggs and toast). Then we drove just 2 minutes to the Davidson River and walked the foot path along the riverside. We ended up finding a neat little spot with lots of rocks just next to the river bed. After we sat for a while on one of those rocks, watching the ever-cold river water pass by and being warmed by the early spring sun, we stood and took to the trail again, skipping our way back to the car.

I noticed, along the way, a small bush with blossoming tiny white flowers on it (I’m endlessly attracted to the tiniest of things) but we kept walking. Only a moment later, David tapped my shoulder and handed me a small sample of the lovely blossoms. He nestled the tiny twig into the space where my band was holding my hair back.

I took a photo of these dear flowers. And here it is.

They look quite big up close like that, don’t they? Well, I decided to take another picture of them to show you how small they are. I got this idea on perspective from my best friend, Robin. She took a picture once of an inch worm crawling on a match. Anyway, here’s the photo.

It’s interesting, isn’t it?

A little perspective can change the way you look at things.
