This is so weird but pretty.

I tried to embed the video into this post, but it didn’t work. You’ll just have to follow the link above.

While we’re on the topic of videos, here’s one I made recently after watching Win a Date with Tad Hamilton. You’ll understand why if you’ve seen the film.

Time to break the silence.

Almost a week has gone by, and giving up the things I chose to for Lent is going quite well. At times, it’s been hard to only drink water. I don’t think I realized how often I had been drinking sweet tea at dinner. Something that has surprised me (well, I had hoped that this would happen and even expected it) is that I love doing crunches now. (But remember this?) I think what has actually surprised me is how quickly I have come to enjoy them. Last Thursday evening, I said to a friend, “I love doing crunches!” in an effort to make myself hear me saying that out loud in order to change my way of thinking. It works. Think on a thing long enough, and I believe it becomes reality. Don’t misunderstand – action is clearly needed as well, but I think the thought should come first. Maintaining an idea, a thought, at the forefront of your mind…powerful.

Since this is turning out to be a stream-of-concious type post, this….

…is what I found on my desk this morning. A lovely lady at work gave it to me. I love the fact that because we are such an electronic generation, this little (almost) novelty brings such a sense of nostalgia. It will be perfect sitting on my desk.

Last week, I also came across Sarah Jane where you can find sweet little things like this…

…the front of a card. So many other lovely things, too.

Out for now. 2 minutes left of library internet time!

…so far.

1. Everyone seems so happy with the things they got for Christmas. I keep hearing things like, “Come look at this great necklace I got,” “Look at my hat,” “I’ve got cookies over here – Come get ‘em when ya want ‘em!” Fun. How delightful.

2. This quote: “Everyone’s waiting on their ducks to get in a row. Well, ducks don’t get in a row. And you are not a duck. Just saying the obvious.”

3. Finding this:

Jerrica Benton: Music Executive by day, glamorous rock star by night!

Jem! I totally had the Jem doll and Jem books when I was kid. And is it just me or is it possible that Lady Gaga is the current day personification of Jem? Look  at Jem’s facial expression here! Tee hee…

It’s a really gorgeous morning. Pretty warm when you stand in the sun for long enough, but still cold with the remainder of the snow. On my way out earlier, I saw two little girls bundled up and playing outside – mainly jumping on a big pile of snow, all piled high in order to make it in and out of the driveway. We all have huge snow piles in our yards for that very reason. On the way back home, ( I wasn’t gone long) I saw the older girl still oustide playing, only this time she was kneeling smack dab in the middle of her driveway just staring at the payment. She could have been mad at her little sister, or sad that Christmas was already over, or….perhaps she was just interested in the way the sun shone on the pavement and made the  little specks within sparkle.

A little boy’s charm will melt your heart.

Over the past few months, I’ve started realizing how important the mind is. And I’ve also learned that the mind is as moldable as your willing to work with it.

The Brain—is wider than the Sky—
For—put them side by side—
The one the other will contain
With ease—and You—beside—
The Brain is deeper than the sea—
For—hold them—Blue to Blue—
The one the other will absorb—
As Sponges—Buckets—do—
The Brain is just the weight of God—
For—Heft them—Pound for Pound—
And they will differ—if they do—
As Syllable from Sound—
- Emily Dickinson

It is programed by what you hear, see, or read, etc. At first, you don’t have much control over what gets programmed into it, but later in life, you do. I am taking it upon myself as huge responsiblity lately to control and filter what is released into my mind. I am also making more of an effort to actually plant what I want there.

A man is but the product of his thoughts what he thinks, he becomes. – Mahatma Gandhi

For as he thinks within himself, so he is. – King Solomon

…be transformed by the renewing of your mind… – Paul

The mind is a dangerous, amazing, utterly horrifying, and perfectly wonderful place.

The other night, David and I were watching random YouTube videos together. From watching amazing sports moments to classic British comedy sketches, we came across this one: a  rather strange and slightly disturbing clip from The League of Gentleman, an English comedy show.

The first time I watched it, I was just really confused. But if you give it a few days and come back to it, I think you’ll crack up laughing.

So, in my in between times of taking calls at work, I sometimes work puzzles from jigzone.com. Here’s one for your puzzle working pleasure!

Have fun.

It’s come to my attention that I look 17. Now, when I’m 40, looking 7 years younger than my actually age will definitely be a plus. For now, at 24, I don’t like it.

Here’s the deal. My husband and I work in youth ministry. It’s not cool to look 17 when you deal with, well, 17-year-olds. I have, more than on one occasion, been asked, “What youth group are you with?” from other youth workers. I have been asked when with a group of teenagers, “Who is the adult here?” It’s not fun.

So, how can I look older without virtually dressing like I’m 50? Got any ideas?
